Guys and Dolls Shinjin
Mar. 12th, 2012 12:43 amI love shinjin performances. I search all the time for any clips that have made it to youtube or toudou. I love seeing actresses 10 years ago that I know now and I marvel at how they have improved.
I've only seen one shinjin performance in person, Scarlet Pimpernal 2010.
This week I got a vhs tape that I had bought, Guys and Dolls Shinjin. I watched today and loved seeing my favorites so young.
As you've read before my first dvd was Elisabeth 2005. I fell in love in Kiriya and Oozora right then. The third person I was impressed with was Tsukifune Sarara. It was a disappointment when I found out that she had already retired by the time I saw that dvd. She did a good job. She started out a little flat but by the end her personality was in full force. In her speech she had the cast and audience laughing. I'm going to have to listen to it again and see if I could figure out what she was saying.
The three friends were played by Mano Sugata, Aoki Izumi, and Ayano Oto. I was surprised to hear how great Aoki's voice was even then.
Hokushou Kairi played Nathan. Her voice was also nice. Ken Ruisu played Big Jule.
It was nice to notice that Ryuu Masaki was there with a bit part, Cabana Man S, and gave her all in dancing. Ai-chan played the musume lead. She also started out a little shaky but settled down.
Shinjins are one act so they usually cut a couple of songs and scenes. Did they really have to cut most of the 2nd act!!?? They cut Sue Me, Luck be a Lady, Sit down You're Rocking the Boat......UGH...my favorite songs.
The regular performance Guys and Dolls dvd is way too expensive so I'll probably never buy it so this was a nice alternative.
